| One unique aspect of Hoover’s work is his personal
interdisciplinary approach when he.combines his
compositions with his own paintings, creating synergetic
works The relationship of the paintings to the music -
action paintings on stage or strictly executed studio
tableaux - explores how the boundaries of an artistic
work may extend beyond a single discipline His work is
seen in exhibitions and in concerts where action
paintings are created by Hoover, or where images of his
paintings are projected while the musicians perform his
music His experience as a musical performer includes
both classical and jazz music; a saxophonist and
conductor of band, orchestra, and jazz ensemble As a
producer of New Music Today concerts, he is active in
bringing together the audience,.composers, and

| Born on September 11, 1959, Jeffrey Hoover holds a Ph D
in Fine Arts (Composition and Interdisciplinary Fine
Arts) from Texas Tech University, as well as a M M in
Composition and Musicology and Bch Sc in Music
Education from Ball State University He studied
composition with David Foley, Ernesto Pellegrini,
Loretta Jankowski, Mary Jean vanAppledorn, and
electronic studio techniques with Cleve Scott and Steven
Paxton
Jeffrey Hoover is the Chairman of Fine, Performing &
Applied Arts at Illinois Central College, East Peoria,
