Composer’s Voice presents a special episode featuring vocalist and educator Andrew White, airing Saturday, November 22. This episode highlights White’s third collaboration with the signature Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame series, exploring the evolution of the voice in modern composition.

The episode traces White’s artistic journey from performing forgotten Cleveland composers to presenting innovative contemporary works. White was first introduced to Vox Novus by David Wolfson in a Composer’s Voice concert featuring Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame.

“I’ve always been fascinated by the possibilities of voice beyond the traditional art song,” says White. “Over the years, we’ve experimented with a cappella, unconventional instruments, hand claps, foot stomps, and fixed-media tracks. Every performance is an exploration of how the human voice interacts with sound and accompaniment.”

This episode features a diverse selection of one-minute works specially composed for Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, alongside longer contemporary pieces experimenting with accompaniment and collaboration. Cleveland composers featured include Arthur Shephard’s The Fiddlers, Herbert Elwell’s The Road Not Taken, and James H. Rodgers’ The Star. Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame composers include Christopher Wicks’ For I Am Persuaded, Amanda McCullough’s The Clock Strikes One That Just Struck Two, Anruo Cheng’s Raise One More Toast, Sarai Hillman’s Strong Root, Gene Pritsker’s Let Mother Breathe, and David Bohn’s Time. Longer contemporary works experimenting with accompaniment and collaboration include Stanley Hoffman’s Pears and Carlotta Ferrari’s Requiem a Voce Sola, an Italian composition reimagining the Requiem text for solo voice.

Composer’s Voice airs biweekly on Manhattan Neighborhood Network and Vox Novus’ YouTube channel, offering audiences worldwide a unique window into contemporary music, composers, and performers experimenting at the frontiers of sound.

Tune in Saturday, November 22 to witness Andrew White’s remarkable journey and the evolving landscape of vocal performance in contemporary music.
