 Pensacola COMPOSERfest XX

Humbly for Sunday

An embarrasement of riches, I (Robert Voisey) have had a bunch of performances of which I am truly grateful. This Sunday my work Vermillion Sand at Pensacola COMPOSERfest XX. A fantastic festival I am proud to be a part of for their 20th festival.

Pensacola COMPOSERfest XX, is a regional showcase of contemporary music taking place on Sunday, September 28 at 2:30 p.m. in the Ashmore Fine Arts Auditorium at Pensacola State College (1000 College Blvd.). The concert is free and open to the public.

Now in its 20th year, Pensacola COMPOSERfest brings together composers and performers from across the Gulf Coast and beyond to share original works ranging from traditional chamber pieces to cutting-edge multimedia. This year’s festival will feature 13 composers and seven world premieres, offering audiences an exciting cross-section of today’s most adventurous music.

Vermillion Sand is a fixed media composition of evocative soundscapes and micro-sampled textures reflecting his signature approach of merging experimental techniques with an immersive, almost cinematic sonic narrative. Known internationally as the founder of the groundbreaking projects 60x60, Fifteen-Minutes-of-Fame, and Composer’s Voice, Voisey has been hailed by The New York Times for creating “madness that makes the cultural world go round.”

 MUSICA PROHIBITA

Vox Novus Presents MUSICA PROHIBITA
at Christ & St. Stephen’s Church:
A Global Musical Journey of Memory and Resistance

Vox Novus is proud to welcome violinist Diana Jipa and pianist Ștefan Doniga to Christ & St. Stephen’s Church for the New York stop of their world-spanning MUSICA PROHIBITA recital tour. This powerful program marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Holocaust and the Second World War, using music to honor the resilience of the human spirit and the enduring force of culture in the face of oppression.

Violinist Diana Jipa and pianist Ștefan Doniga will, for the third time in three consecutive years, journey around the globe on a recital tour—setting a new world precedent. As with their previous tours around the Earth, this year’s project is organized by the INNOVARTE Cultural Association, financed by the Romanian Cultural Institute through the Cantemir Program, and supported by Radio Romania Musical and the Gândul Press Group, along with the backing of Romanian diplomatic missions in the countries visited and local partners: the Austro-Romanian Society in Vienna, the University of Nairobi, Alliance Française Nairobi, the DOINA Association of Romanians in Brisbane and Auckland, the SUONAVOCE Australia Music Management and Production Agency, Vox Novus New York, and Manhattan Neighborhood Network Studios.

For the third consecutive year, these acclaimed artists have set out to perform around the globe, carrying a message of remembrance and hope through music. Their 2025 tour visits four continents and includes cities of profound symbolic importance: Geneva, Vienna, Nairobi, Brisbane, and New York—all home to United Nations offices dedicated to the defense of human rights and the fight against persecution.

MUSICA PROHIBITA invites audiences to reflect on the way culture becomes “the last refuge and the most comprehensive repository of human values,” a space where art transforms into an authentic form of resistance. Through music once silenced by censorship and oppression, this program reminds us that creativity can transcend even the darkest chapters of history.

The New York performance will take place:
Wednesday, October 1, 2025 – 7:30 PM
Christ & St. Stephen’s Church – 120 West 69th Street, New York, NY

This landmark concert is presented by Vox Novus in collaboration with the INNOVARTE Cultural Association and supported by the Romanian Cultural Institute through the Cantemir Program, Radio Romania Musical, the Gândul Press Group, and numerous international partners, including the Permanent Mission of Romania to the United Nations.

Join us for an evening where music speaks as resistance, memory, and hope—linking past to present, and New York to the world.
